Lead Climbing

Awesome Walls Stockport is truly Awesome! Not only is it one of Europe's largest indoor climbing centres, it holds the record as being England highest climbing centre being 23.5m High!! Also there are plenty of routes for everyone to go at, including 44 Lead Lines. Awesome Walls is not only ideal for the keen beginner it has also hosted major climbing competitions.

Tall Wall

Vertical Walls - Tall Wall Area

This is The Tallest Wall in the country, ranging from 12.5m to the awesome height of 23.5meters (about 77ft!). All lead lines with varying grades to have a go at, so that everyone can experience the dizzy heights of this fantastic wall. A 50m rope is a must for anyone wanting the tall wall experience (which we do hire and sell!).

The Big Slabs

There are two 13m slab walls either side of the centre. One with two outward stepped sections to try and power your selves over. The other Big Slab contains a triangular cut instep into the wall, which is excellent for lay backing and perfecting your slab climbing technique. On both walls there is opportunity for top roping and leading

Convex

Another 4 Lead lines of 13m high climbing to have a go at, on the Awesome Convex Wall. This time the climbing begins at about 20 degrees gradually becoming near vertical at the top, this wall and many of the others has been the scene of some of the most recent climbing competitions and finals in the country.

Concave

The 13m high concave wall has 4 lead lines with various grades. At the base of this wall the climbing begins near vertical progressively becoming steeper and over hanging as you get towards the top.

Stepped Overhang

Stepped Overhang

4 lead lines of varying depth of stepped overhanging walls, standing at over 12m high. These roofs offer an array dangling delights, to navigate around and especially over.


Constant Overhang Prow Wall

In the centre of this constant 10 degree overhanging wall, is a protruding 11m high featured Prow. With one top rope and lead line either side of this impressive feature as well as a lead line straight up the front of the prow. This wall has everything to offer, from bridging to lay backing.

Barrel

Yes there is more awesome big wall, enduring overhanging lead climbing to be had on, this time on the barrel. This wall stands at over 13m high, with 4 more lead lines to challenge your selves at. Starting off with a short vertical section, which then leads into a massive overhanging concave wall, before finishing off with another short vertical section to the top.

The Barrel

The Fin

The centre peace of the centre, with 4 lead lines and 17 top rope lines. All of them increasing in height, ranging 6m to 9.5m offering plenty of opportunity to beginners, all the way to experienced high grade leaders. The Fin has variety of climbing with featured and none featured walls, overhangs and roofs chimneys and aretes as well as an awesome crack system.
